Uses
Mainly used to make polyester, polyester, polyester resin, hygroscopic agents, plasticizers, surfactants, synthetic fibers, cosmetics and explosives.
It is also used as a solvent for dyes, inks, etc., to prepare antifreeze for engines, as a gas dehydrating agent, to manufacture resins, and as a wetting agent for cellophane, fiber, leather, and adhesives.
It can produce synthetic resin PET, fiber grade PET which is polyester fiber, and bottle flake grade PET used to make mineral water bottles, etc. It can also produce alkyd resin, glyoxal, etc., and is also used as antifreeze.
In addition to being used as an automotive antifreeze, it is also used for the transportation of industrial cold capacity, generally called as a refrigerant, and can also be used as a condensing agent with water.
Ethylene glycol should be noted when used as a subrefrigerant:

When the concentration reaches 99.9%, its freezing point rises to -13.2 ° C, which is an important reason why concentrated antifreeze (antifreeze mother liquor) can not be used directly, and must attract the attention of users.
2. The Ethylene glycol contains hydroxyl, and working at 80 ° C to 90 ° C for a long time, the Ethylene glycol is oxidized to Ethanol acid and then to oxalic acid, which contains two carboxyl groups.
Oxalic acid and its by-products affect first the central nervous system, then the heart, and then the kidneys.
Ethylene glycol, which corrodes equipment and causes leakage.

Ethylene glycol series products are advanced organic solvents with excellent properties and are used as solvents and diluents for printing inks, industrial cleaning agents, coatings (nitrocellulofiber paints, varnishes, enamel paints), copper clad plates, printing and dyeing.
However, it is easy to metabolize and oxidize to produce toxic oxalic acid, so it cannot be widely used as a solvent.
It can be used for the production of pesticide intermediates, pharmaceutical intermediates, and intermediates of fungicides pentyclozole and oxametrin.

Adding Ethylene glycol to the hydraulic fluid prevents the erosion of rubber in the system by oil-based hydraulic fluid.
Ethylene glycol based water-based hydraulic fluid is a non-combustible hydraulic fluid used in molds for aircraft, automobiles, and high-temperature operations.
Used as textile additives, synthetic liquid dyes, as well as fertilizer and oil refining in the production of desulfurization agent raw materials.
